The Dahlias are Blooming!

Swan Island Dahlias in Canby, Oregon is the largest and leading dahlia grower in America with over 40 acres and 350 varieties of dahlias.

It has been a family owned business since 1927 and is celebrating their 84th season.  Visitors can walk through the sea of color free of charge.  The annual Dahlia Festival is held on August 27, 28, and 29 and September 3, 4, and 5 this year.  It features indoor displays as well as the display gardens.  During the festival, guests can have lunch or snacks from one of the many vendors.

The Willamette Valley….a gardeners paradise

If you are a gardener, or even if you aren’t and just enjoy beautiful flowers, you will enjoy the Willamette Valley in spring and summer.  Beginning with daffodils in early spring and continuing into the fall, many gardens and nurseries are open for visitors’ enjoyment.  Currently, peonies and irises are in abundance here in the valley.

Nearby, are the colorful Schreiner’s Iris Gardens which are also beautiful view.
